Mallorca World Folk Festival

A total of 41 folkloric groups (15 international and 26 Majorcan), totaling more than 700 artists, participate in the Mallorca World Folk Festival (MWFF) which takes place from April 2 to 6 organized by the Consell de Mallorca. This festival is part of the calendar of the Federation of International Dance Festivals (FIDAF).

The MWFF will gather fifteen international groups that work in the revival and dissemination of folk music and dances of their countries, which will compete in a contest with six international juries of recognized prestige within the world of folklore.

The fifteen international groups are: CTG Aldeia dos Anjos (Rio Grande do Soul, Brazil), Ensemble Pirin (Blagoevgrad, Bulgaria), Ballet Folclórico del Llano (Meta, Colombia), Elhorryia Folk Troupe (Alexandria, Egypt), Lykion ton Ellinidon of Larissa (Larissa, Greece), International Dance Ensemble Paloina (Amsterdam, Netherlands), Sparsh Foundation Singrauli Samiti (New Dheli, India), Akragas Folk Dance Group (Sicily, Italy), National Ensemble of Songs and Dance Shota (Zagreb, Kosovo ), Folk Ensemble Saule (Siauliai, Lithuania), Folk Song and Dance Ensemble Jantar (Gdansk, Poland), Grupo Etnográfico de Areosa (Viana do Castelo, Portugal), Folk Dance Group Dorul (Arges, Romania), Folk Dancing Group Surprise ( Russia) and Golden Bridge Folk Dances Ensemble Sport Club (Büyükçekmece / Büyük Menderes, Turkey).

The Mallorcan groups that participate are: Abeniara and S'Estol de Gerricó (Felanitx); Cofre Antic, Revetlers des Puig d'Inca and Sa Revetla d'Inca; Aires des Pla Llucmajorer, Ben Ballat, Calabruix, Castanyetes in Festa, Dit i Fet and Xeremiers de sa Marina (Llucmajor); Revetla d'Algebelí (Muro); Es Majoral, Es Revetlers, Escola Ball de Bot of Cala d'Or, Ordi Broix and Sa Mitja Lluna (Santanyí); Parade of Valldemossa and Music School i Ball de Valldemossa; Aires d'Andratx; Sa Sínia (Consell); Es Raiguer (Marratxí); Coques Bambes, Escola de Ball l'Assumpció, Escola de Música i Danses de Mallorca and S'Eixam Mallorquí (Palma).

15: 00-18: 00 h. Gala of competition in el Teatre Municipal Xesc Forteza

4:00 p.m. - 6:00 p.m. Outdoor performances on the Paseo del Born, Plaza Major and Plaza d'Espanya

20: 30-23: 00 h. Gala of competition in the Teatre Municipal Xesc Forteza de Palma
