The young British pianist Luke Jones opens the VII International Piano Festival that takes place from 10 to 14 July at Torre de Canyamel, a unique gothic style watch- and defense tower in Mallorca.
Luke Jones started playing the piano at age 5 and with 10 years old he gave his first recital at the Wrexham Arts Center, in North Wales. Since then he has performed all over the UK in places such as Eaton Square in London, Dora Stoutzker Hall, Cardiff, Barber Institute in Birmingham or the Pump Room in Bath, among others.
He has also played outside his country in places like Italy, Austria, Mallorca and Slovenia. He won several prizes in important European competitions and has been awarded the Chopin RNCM Prize for his interpretation of the 12 Etudes, Op.10 and the Marjorie Clementi Memorial Prize.
Despite his still short artistic career - he is currently continuing his training at the Royal Northern College of Music in Manchester under the tutelage of Professor Dina Parakhina -, Luke Jones has performed Beethoven's third piano concerto with the Manchester Camerata and the concerts of Liszt No.1, Mozart K488 and Grieg with other British orchestras.
At the VII International Piano Festival Torre de Canyamel he offers a program consisting of Etudes Op. 10 by Frédéric Chopin, and Etudes-Tableaux Op. 39 by Serguéi Rachmaninov.
