First concert of the XII Vila de Santanyí International Music Festival by the prestigious Italian organist and harpsichordist Lorenzo Ghielmi in the Sant Andreu church.
Ghielmi is a noted performer of Bach's organ and harpsichord works, professor at the Civica Scuola di Musica in Milan and former professor at the Schola Cantorum in Basel. He is the titular organist at the Milanese basilica of San Simpliciano.
He has performed concerts all over the world and recorded albums for various record labels. His recordings of concertos by Bruhns, Bach, Handel and the concertos for Haydn's organ and orchestra have been awarded the Diapason d'or.
He is the author of a book on Nicolaus Bruhns, and several studies on the art of organ in the 16th and 17th centuries, as well as a study on the interpretation of Bach's works. He is a member of juries of international competitions, gives lectures and master classes, and has founded the ensembles Giardino Armonico and La Divina Armonia.
