Pierre de Marivaux (1688-1763) wrote The island of slaves at the same time as Daniel Defoe his Robinson Crusoe and Jonathan Swift Gulliver's Travels, three stories where space-island plays a decisive role.
The island of slaves (L'illa dels esclaus, in Catalan) it is considered one of his works of social utopia, where Marivaux poses an experiment reversing the roles: the masters become slaves and the slaves masters.
This production of the Teatre Principal de Palma is directed by Assun Planas and features scenography by Joan Galí.
