Kiko Veneno (Figueras, 1952) comes to Mallorca for a concert celebrating the 20th anniversary of one of the essential albums of Spanish music, Échate un cantecito (Throw a little song), which marked the commercial launch of the artist with magic. A path along which has been awarded the National Prize of Contemporary Music, which was granted on 28 November by the Ministry of Culture.
Songs like En un Mercedes blanco, Echo de menos or Joselito are compositions of the collective memory of a generation that have endured over time, and that now emerge as a tribute to an artist who despite staying independent from current fashions has been able to live off his music for two decades.
In 1975, in an encounter that would change his life, he met the brothers Rafael and Raimundo Amador, with whom he formed the band Veneno. Four years later the band did a very important collaboration on the record La leyenda del tiempo of Camaron de la Isla
Although with little commercial impact, in 1982 he published his first solo LP. Later he composed songs for Martirio and collaborated in the TV show La bola de cristal. It was not until 1992 that he became known to the general public with Echate un cantecito, with the decisive support of Santiago Auserón, who managed to tear off the label of a cursed singer.
