Founded in 2012 with headquarters in Johannesburg, the Joburg Ballet is the largest professional and most prestigious ballet company throughout South Africa. It consists of internationally famous dancers of both classical ballet and contemporary dance, and often invites world-renowned figures to participate in its seasons.
It has an extensive repertoire that includes works by Petipa, Ivanov, Bovim, Balanchine, Saint-Léon, Wubbe and other famous choreographers.
In the spirit of the South African leader and Nobel Peace Prize winner Nelson Mandela, Joburg Ballet collaborates in numerous programs of social, multiracial integration, development and dissemination of dance, as the project of South African Cuban Ballet School.
Its goal is to make dance an art capable of reaching the entire South African society and improve standards of training, development, innovation and international projection.
