Joana Zimmer is a German singer born in 1982 in Freiburg, Baden-Württemberg. Blind since birth, she lived with her family in the United States and Englanduntil she was four years old, when they returned to Germany.
At 15 she debuted as a singer in various jazz clubs in Berlin and in 2005 released her first album, My Innermost. Along with the Spanish singer David Bisbal she sang Let's make history, main theme of the soundtrack of the film Die Luftbruecke (The airlift). One of her singles, I Believe, reached the top spot on the lists of best-selling hits. She has also worked with renowned musicians as Xavier Naidoo, Boyz II Men and Michael Bolton, among others.
In this concert Joana Zimmer's music combines jazz with reading some passages from Blind Date: die Welt mit meinen Augen seh (Blind Date. The world through my eyes), the book published by the singer last month September.
It is accompanied by Toni Cuenca Trio, formed by Agustín Aguiló (piano), Toni Cuenca Junior (drums) and Toni Cuenca (bass).
