Behind this police woman - the name was taken from a TV series- is Joan Wasser, the muse of indie folk, pop and soul. The singer-songwriter comes to Mallorca to head the lineup of First, the Festival Indie Rock Serra Tramuntana held in Costa Nord. As openers will perform the Mallorcan band Maico, debuting on stage, and Nin Petit with musical visuals.
She began as an instrumentalist playing the violin, given her classical training, but she soon changed gears and went to work with groups such as Antony and the Johnsons and The Guillemots and artists like Rufus Wainwright, Charles Burnham, Lou Reed and Elton John.
Joan Wasser declares herself feminist of the XXI century - 'not against men but for the total freedom of women' - and her lyrics, which talk about issues like sex or love, do not leave anyone indifferent. Her latest album, the fifth of her discography is The Classic, a handful of catchy tunes and bittersweet ballads which she now presents in Valldemossa.
