2015 marked the 70th anniversary of one of the most catastrophic events of the 20th century, the genocide in which six million Jews were killed during World War II. The Holocaust has served as a starting point to shape this project of MazikDuo, which tries to show the relationship between music, history and culture, placing us at a point of time and the cultural space of a community.
In Jewish Life, portraits of the past, Tolo Genestar (clarinet) and Marc Sumsi (piano), graduated from the Higher Conservatory of the Liceu de Barcelona and masters in the most important European music conservatories, enter us into the richness and diversity of Jewish culture with songs that are the reflection of the joy of their traditional celebrations and the deepest cries of sadness: a music that laughs and cries at the same time.
Premiered with great success in February 2016 at the Teatre Principal de Maó and, after passing through the Auditori Municipal l'Esponja de Ses Salines, the duo plans to present the concert on stages of Andalusia and Catalonia.
