This year's guest country for the Alternatilla Jazz Festival is Denmark, where Jakob Bro was born in 1978. This guitarist began his musical career at a very young age playing tambourine in his father's big band.
He studied at the Royal Academy of Music in Denmark, the Berklee School in Boston and the New School in New York. He made his debut at ECM with Paul Motian in 2006 and later recorded with Tomasz Stanko.
He has led several projects, such as his trios and quartets with prominent musicians such as Thomas Morgan, Joey Baron, Mark Turner and Palle Mikkelborg. Among his most recent works are the album Uma Elmo (2021) and a tribute to Paul Motian with Joe Lovano (2022).
