Ivo Pogorelich (Belgrade, 1958) is a prominent Croatian pianist who in 2014 was awarded the Gold Medal of the International Festival of Music and Dance in the city of Úbeda, a World Heritage Site.
He began studying piano at age seven in Belgrade and at twelve he moved with his family to Moscow, where he studied at the Central Music School after graduating at the Tchaikovsky Conservatory. His first concert took place in 1981 at Carnegie Hall in New York, and since then he has done many performances as soloist and as accompanist of the most prestigious orchestras.
In Palma Auditorium he offers a program consisting of Fantasia quasi sonata / After a Reading of Dante in D minor by Frank Liszt, Fantasie for Piano in C-Major op. 17 by Robert Schumann, Petrushka, three movements- for Piano by Igor Stravinsky and Variations on a Theme of Niccolò Paganini in A minor op. 35 by Johannes Brahms.
