The Palma Dansa 2022 festival screens this 1956 film in which Gene Kelly pays an imaginative and passionate tribute to dance through three stories: Circo, Ring around the Rosy and Sinbad el Marino.
After the success of An American in Paris (1951) and Singing in the Rain (1952), Gene Kelly managed to convince Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer to produce an unusual film: without dialogue or songs.
The result was Invitation to Dance, a box office flop but one of the first musicals to receive the Golden Bear at the Berlin Festival in 1956.
The Palma Dansa 2022 festival is organized by the Department of Culture of the Palma City Council and is held from April 29 to May 8 in different areas of the city.
