It is organized by the Department of Modern and Classical Spanish Philology of the Universitat de les Illes Balears (UIB) and takes place from January 7 to 10 in Es Baluard.
In this second edition the seminar is entitled Literatura y Soberbia: Vanitas, hybris y otras presunciones (Literature and Pride: Vanitas, hubris and other assumptions). Studied will be the relationship between literature and arrogance from a multidisciplinary and transoceanic perspective gathering twinned cultures like Italian, Portuguese, Catalan and Spanish and distant eras from the Greek and Latin classics to poetry which is published today.
The seminar is coordinated by teachers Lourdes Pereira (Department of Modern and Classical Spanish Philology, UIB), Dolores Juan (University of Massachusetts Amherst) and Giovanni Spano (the College of the Holy Cross in the United States), supported by the Service of Cultural Activities of the UIB.
