Jose Luis Gutierrez, saxophonist and composer, is one of the most international players on the national scene. His compositions are characterized by an influence of Iberian music, which he masterfully links to improvisation. He has called this particular style Iberjazz, which the author defines as the retrieval and updating of Iberian music of high quality.
His first work, Nucleo, was considered best jazz album in Spain in 1998. Later would come El ojo de la aguja( the eye of the needle) and, in 2012, the album Fruit Salad, in which he further explores creative possibilities that arise from this union of Iberian music and jazz.
Jose Luis Gutierrez (sax, flute, piano and percussion) is accompanied by Chuchi Cuadrado (guitar and percussion), César Díez (bass and percussion) and Antolin Olea (drums and percussion).
In addition to the six scheduled concerts, the Jazz Voyeur Festival this year includes a series of film & Jazz held from 12 to 15 November at the Teatre Catalina Valls.
