Processions, sacred music and cultural plans: the island changes rhythm for nine days
Holy Week in Mallorca is not experienced “only” as processions: it is a mix of street tradition + previous culture (exhibitions and concerts) + that real beginning of spring on the island.
In Palma, the historic center around the Cathedral is one of the most impressive points.
📍 Key dates
🌿 March 29 · Palm Sunday
Blessing of palms and branches in Palma and in towns. Perfect day to start with a calmer and more familiar plan.
🕯️ April 2 · Maundy Thursday
Night of processions in Palma and throughout the island.
In Palma, one of the strong names is Sant Crist de la Sang (it leaves from La Misericòrdia and runs through the old town).
⛪️ April 3 · Good Friday
The big day. From 7:00 p.m. onwards, Mallorca enters its most solemn moment. Essentials (yes or yes):
Burial Procession in Sineu (one of the oldest).
The Davallament in Pollença and Felanitx (dramatized descent).
Via of the Cross in the Cathedral of Palma (performance staged on the stairs).
✨ April 5 · Resurrection Sunday (Easter Sunday)
Procession of the Encounter in Palma and in towns (symbolizes the meeting of the risen Christ with the Virgin).
🗓️ April 6 · Easter Monday
Holiday. Good day for calm plans, but with impact on stores and schedules.
🎭 Easter traditions that you will see on the street

🖼️Exhibitions in Palma (Centro Cultural La Misericòrdia)
Two different but complementary samples: one shows you “who” the brotherhoods are (their identity, symbols and aesthetics) and the other takes you into Holy Week from a photographic perspective and banda music.
They are part of the previous cultural programming organized by the Consell de Mallorca.
