The Teatre Principal de Palma reaches a historic milestone in its Opera Season by staging a work by Richard Wagner for the very first time. The Flying Dutchman represents a turning point in the composer's career, blending haunting romanticism with deep philosophical questions about sacrifice and redemption.
The Story: A blasphemous sea captain is cursed to sail the oceans for eternity. Every seven years, he is allowed to step ashore to seek the one thing that can save him: the true love of a woman faithful unto death.
The Production: This ambitious staging, a production from the Teatre Municipal de Santiago de Chile, brings the Wagnerian universe to Palma with full scenic grandeur, overcoming a technical challenge never before seen at the Principal.
