Héloïse Jocqueviel: ‘Sven’

The French dancer Héloïse Jocqueviel, former member of the Paris Opera Ballet, opens the PalmaDansa 2024 festival with Sven, a counterhistory of the woman-white swan metamorphosis of classicist tales.

Sven is a hybrid creature: swan, monster and human. In Swan Lake, a woman falls victim to a witch's spell that transforms her into a swan. Sven alone does not at all present animality as punitive or inferior in the human state. Here the creature is not a victim or prisoner of a man's fantasy, but rather it is his environment that is threatened by him.
