It is a tradition that comes from northern Europe, specifically Germany, where the first of these markets apparently took place in the Saxon City of Dresden in 1434. Today they have become the essence of the Christmas spirit and atmosphere in a good part of the world and the most attractive way of buying at this time gifts for the whole family.
In Mallorca an increasing number of places add to this tradition and we can find Christmas markets of very different environments, from indigenous to the most international which reflects the confluence of cultures on the island.
In this guide we suggest you visit some of these markets and fairs where we are sure you will find those special gifts that we all seek.
