Gillespie Big Band, 'A night in Tunisia'

This year 2023 marks the 30th anniversary of the death of the great American trumpeter Dizzy Gillespie, a key figure in the history of jazz. In 1981, Gillespie was the headliner at the first edition of the Palma Jazz Festival.

With this concert in Big Band format directed by Antoni Miranda, the Palma Jazz Festival 2023 pays tribute to his person and his work.Dizzy Gillespie composed emblematic songs such as A night in Tunisia, Manteca, Be-bop or Con Alma, present in the repertoire of many current musicals.

The Jazz Palma Festival is organized by the Palma City Council and is held from February 10 to 19, 2023 at the Teatre Municipal Xesc Forteza. This fourth edition programs seven concerts with international artists and groups, as well as a series of complementary activities related to the world of jazz.
