The penultimate round of the 53 Festival de Pollença offers us the chance to listen again to this Mallorcan considered one of the finest contemporary interpreters of classical guitar. Gabriel Estarellas (Palma, 1952) has premiered over two hundred works, recorded 21 albums, including his famous Diez estudios de virtuosismo (Ten virtuosity studies).
Throughout his career he has performed in numerous international festivals and as soloist along with prestigious orchestras. He collaborates closely with the great composers of the twentieth century, who write pieces for him to interpret. He is currently honorary professor at the National University of St Augustin of Arequipa, in Peru, where the International Festival and Guitar Competition Estarellas Gabriel is held.
In the cloister of Sant Domingo de Pollença he will perform works by Hector Ayala, Heitor Villa-Lobos and Bartolome Calatayud.
