💧 About the exhibition

The works gathered in Frost and mist They work on and with water as a material, but also as a system of circulation, measurement, belief, and conflict. The project does not introduce large volumes of water: it activates its substitutes, displacements, and fictions.

In contrast to the monumental scale of water cycles, the pieces function from the minimum: almost ridiculous gestures, fragile actions and useless displacements that connect with global trade, tourism, climate change or border policies.

The exhibition is structured as a choreography of the states of water: solid, liquid, and vapor. A collection of snow globes, tears of ex-partners, mussel cement, zigzag ice, sand sculptures, and Russian waters attempt, unsuccessfully, to answer a question: what does it mean to store water when the problem isn't keeping it, but understanding how it circulates and who controls it?

Casal Solleric is the contemporary art center of Palma City Council, housed in a Baroque palace on Passeig del Born. Its rooms—main floor, ground floor, mezzanine, the Aljub, and the courtyard—host exhibitions by local and international artists throughout the year.
