Although the program starts on April 30, the two key dates in these fairs and festivals of Sóller are on Sunday 8th and Monday 9th May. The fair is held on Sunday, covering a large number of activities that start at nine o'clock.
There will be themed exhibitions and shows (of cars, livestock and handicrafts), a morning of chess, medieval archery, book presentations and of course, music. Tomeu Penya will give an intimate concert in front of City Hall and later on comes verbena with Estol Tramuntana and Xeremiers de Dóller.
In Monday will be celebrated es Firó and with it the famous celebration of Moors and Christians, which commemorates the victory of the sollerics against Turkish pirates on May 11, 1561. During the afternoon, the battles among the Christian and the Saracens are staged in the beach of en Repic, the Barona Bridge and the field of s’Oca. The Christian troops then come out victorious and the representation is finished with a speech filled with praise for the heroes before singing La balanguera, the hymn of Mallorca.
