On May 27, 1866, Santa Maria del Cami inaugurated its annual Fira and five years later, in 1871, the last Sunday in April was established as a stable date for its conclusion. Since then 151 years have passed, which Sa Fira is celebrating this year, an event that started as showing traditional agricultural and livestock and has grown to become a sample of culture, tradition and local industry.
The events last more than ten days and there will be around 50. Officially they begin on Thursday 27 with the Nit de l'Art and the homage to the painter Jaume Juan in Ca s'Apotecari. The exhibitions Quotidianitat in Can Pulit, with photographs by Jean Luc Luis and ceramics by Aitziber Esteran, and El vi fe art, paintings by Toni Llabrés Campins in the cellar Jaume de Puntiró are also inaugurated.
On Friday the 28th is celebrated the evening of frito ( fried) and on Sunday 30 is the big day, Sa Fira. There will be: XXV Mostra Industrial, Commercial i Artiesanal of Santa Maria del Camí, Sample of Santamaria wines, Sample and tasting of Balearic Products, exhibition of agricultural and livestock machinery, exhibition of falconry birds, exhibition of birds and game, exhibition of Selected birds, sample of sheep from Santamaria , show of animals of native breeds, Alternative Fair, V Sustainable Fair.
The day of the Fira music will not be missed with batucadas of Batukaos, Saravà and Samba d'aki, concert of the Band of Music of Santa Maria of Camí and swing dance with dl grupo Piolet Swing.
On Monday, May 1, the Firó will be held, with activities for children, Fireta del juego (from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. and 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.), sampling and tasting of sweet and savory cakes (7:30 p.m. ) And fireworks (10:00 p.m.).
The last event of the Fira takes place on Saturday May 6 with Sa Nit de Sa Bubota, which features Le circ du Soler. A popular culture show based on rondallas of Santa Maria del Camí with the participation of giants, cabezudos and the special performance of the Col·lectiu Guixanet de Tàrrega (Lleida).
