Maria Antonia Abad Fernández , known as Sara Montiel (Ciudad Real, 1928 - Madrid, 2013 ) was a Spanish actress and singer who after debuting in small roles in national films decided to try her fortune in America . In just four years, she did fourteen films in Mexic , and from there made the jump to the United States with the involvement in Veracruz by Robert Aldrich.
Back in Spain, the young actress solidified her status as an international star with the movies El último cuplé and La violetera, an actress with a huge commercial success in the 50s and 60s, participating in more than 60 films. She retired from cinema in 1974, but as a musical figure remained active until the end of her days.
