On February 1 Son Servera celebrates the festivity of San Ignacio and it commemorates a date to remember in this town. In 1821 was lifted the military cordon sanitaire, established a year earlier because of the plague epidemic that ravaged the town, killing 1,040 residents. Since then, every February first a solemn Mass is celebrated.
Among the acts of the popularly known as Fiesta de la Peste (Festa de la Pesta) stand out the floral offering to the shepherd and the granting of the Premis Metge Lliteres, awards in the field of research which are named after the head physician of Son Servera during the plague.
