The Municipal Archives of Can Bordils presents an exhibition of Cardinal Despuig to mark the bicentenary of his birth, which will be accompanied with an interesting lecture.
Antoni Despuig i Dameto (Palma de Mallorca, 1745 - Lucca, 1813) was a leading figure of Mallorcan illustration in the eighteenth century, besides being Bishop of Orihuela, archbishop of Valencia and Sevilla, Cardinal and a great art collector. The exhibition presents an approach to this character with intent to show aspects of his life story as an erudite, a feature of his time.An interesting collection of classical sculptures, part of his private collection is on permanent display in the History of the City Bellver Castle.
