The Italian trumpet player and composer Enrico Rava (Trieste, 1939) is one of the most acclaimed figures of European jazz on the international circuit and, together with Paolo Fresu, one of the best-known Italian jazz musicians in the world.
Enrico Rava (trumpet) performs at the 24th edition of the Festival Mallorca Jazz Sa Pobla in quartet format with Francesco Diodati (guitar), Gabriele Evangelista (double bass) and Enrico Morello (drums).
In his 50-year career, Enrico Rava has produced more than 90 recordings, including more than 25 as a leader. Great admirer of Chet Baker and Miles Davis, in the 60s he was part of the group of Gato Barbieri and later of Steve Lacy's band. In these years he has combined his own works, mostly under the ECM label, with collaborations with musicians such as Pat Metheny, Michel Petrucciani, Joe Henderson, Cecil Taylor, Paul Motian, Lee Konitz or Carla Bley.
Enrico Rava continues to delight us with his trumpet of absolute elegance and a soothing minimalism. Italian jazz veteran Rava remains in top form and is the role model of many young people, of whom this transgenerational quartet is a good example.
