Saxophonist Elan Trotman will open the new edition of Mallorca Smooth Jazz Festival, which takes place from 1 to 4 May and is dedicated to the biggest names in contemporary jazz.
Trotman was born and raised in Barbados. At age twelve he began studying saxophone and later continued his studies at the Berklee College of Music in Boston. His freshness and unmistakable tone have led him to be considered the Best Male Jazz Artist by the New England Urban Music Awards.
The music of this multi-instrumentalist contains elements of gospel, jazz, R & B, funk and reggae. The latest album, Tropicality (2013) shows his Caribbean heritage, highlighting the characteristic rhythms and grooves of Barbados and nearby islands.
