With the live music of the Orquestra Simfònica Illes Balears, the dancer, choreographer and director of the National Dance Company, José Carlos Martínez, signs this spectacular Don Quijote in three acts with music by Ludwig Minkus. It is the latest proposal of the 33rd Opera and Ballet Season of the Teatre Principal de Palma.
Since its acclaimed premiere in 2015 at the Teatro de la Zarzuela in Madrid, the piece has toured the world generating applause in its wake. José Carlos Martínez (Cartagena, Murcia, 1969), star dancer of the Paris Opera and National Dance Prize in 1999, recovers this vision of Don Quijote which poetizes the figure of the Knight in his search for perfect incarnate love, in his fantasy, by Dulcinea from a perspective that respects the essence of Spanish culture and dance.
It also highlights the choreography, inspired by the famous romantic versions of Petipa and Groski, as well as its spectacular scenery and costumes and its vibrant rhythm.
