The Teatre Principal de Palma inaugurates its 33th Opera and Ballet Season with the premiere of a new Don Giovanni production. The magisterial trilogy signed by Mozart and the librettist Da Ponte is completed, after the programming of Così fan tutte and Le nozze di Figaro in previous editions.
Don Giovanni occupies the zenith among the many operas that have dealt with the figure of the insatiable seducer. Composed in full of his extraordinary faculties, Mozart achieves that score and libretto are woven delightfully in this humorous drama where humor does not hide the tragedy of a man condemned to an infinite flirtation.
The stage direction has been entrusted to Paco Azorín, who offers a contemporary vision that delves into the reasons for the protagonist's sexual voracity. A proposal that contrasts with the historicist musical path followed by Cristóbal Soler, who recovers in this production all the richness of the original pentagrams. An exciting story played by a cast of the first order: Ainhoa Arteta (Donna Elvira), María José Moreno (Donna), Nicola Ulivieri (Don Giovanni), Ugo Guagliardo (Leporello), Susana Cordón (Zerlina), Tomeu Bibiloni (Masetto), Simon Lin (Commendatore) and Giovanni Sala (Don Ottavio). Coireography of Carlos Martos.
The music will be interpreted by the Symphony Orchestra Illes Balears and the Cor del Teatre Principal, directed by Pere Víctor Rado.
On Saturday, March 2, a meeting with the artistic team of Don Giovanni takes place at CaixaForum.
