The first edition of the Festival of Classical Music Torre Canyamel opens with the concert by two Russian interpreters: the pianist Dina Parakhina and violinist Yuri Torchinsky. The latter, with only 24 years, became the youngest member of the Orchestra of the Bolshoi Theatre in Moscow. Parakhina also participated in this formation, being appointed solo pianist in 1988. In this concert they perform works by J. Brahms and A. Scriabin.
The Classical Music Festival Torre Canyamel is an initiative launched this summer which aims to enrich the cultural offer of the municipality of Arta. The Torre Canyamel (Canyamel Tower), built in the mid-thirteenth century, is one of the most singular buildings of its kind in Europe and unique in Mallorca. It has a square floor plan and follows the lines of the Gothic. The area also features ancient buildings of the early settlers dating back to 1000 BC.
