Every year on September 12th, Mallorca celebrates the Diada de Mallorca, a date that marks a key moment in our history. On that day in 1276, King Jaume II swore the Charter of Privileges and Freedoms in the church of Santa Eulàlia, giving birth to the Kingdom of Mallorca.
This date represents a major step towards the modernisation of our society: the creation of a stable administration, the consolidation of the municipal system, the development of basic infrastructures such as markets and supply networks, and the establishment of its own monetary and fiscal system.
It is a day to recognise how those decisions transformed our way of life, allowing us to shape a freer, more organised, and modern territory.
