The first thing Herbie Hancock did when he was appointed Goodwill Ambassador of UNESCO in 2011 is to establish an International Jazz Day, which since then is celebrated on April 30. This date coincides with the last day of what is known in the United States as the Month of Jazz Appreciation.
In Mallorca it has been held since 2012 and includes a program of lectures and symposia, live jazz, projection of concerts and films, photo exhibitions, etc.. The activities take place in different venues throughout the city.
