From a French father and Dominican mother, Cyrille Aimée has become one of the new voices that has illuminated the jazz scene of recent years with her naturalness, freshness and personality. With her performance, she opens the 25th edition of the Mallorca Jazz Sa Pobla festival.
Cyrille Aimée (Fontainebleau, France, 1984) began to sing and play the guitar at age 14 after knowing jazz thanks to the gypsies who visited the town where she lived, Samois-sur-Seine, city of adoption of guitarist Django Reinhardt.
Years later she would travel all over Europe singing in the streets. In the course of this artistic odyssey, Cyrille Aimée presented herself at the vocal jazz contest of the Montreux Jazz Festival 2007, where she won the first prize. This success allowed her to finance the recording of her first album. In 2012, she also won the Sarah Vaughan International Jazz Vocal Competition.
The jazzwoman, who has a great natural talent for music and dance, is presented in sa Pobla with her latest album, the studio album Move On: A Sondheim Adventure (2019), where she explores the music of composer Stephen Sondheim.
Cyrille Aimée (voice and loop pedal), Laurent Coulondre (piano), Matteo Bortone (double bass) and Yoann Serra (drums).
