The project Bach Cycle continues with this concert of Lent that programs two works by J.S. Bach that have not been interpreted so far in the Balearic Islands, at least there are no references of it: Easter Oratory and Oratory of the Ascension.
Featuring the Coral Universitat de les Illes Balears, BACHrroc Ensemble (directed by Joan Company) and soloists. The Easter Oratory BWV 249 was written by J.S. Bach in Leipzig and premiered on April 1, 1725. The librettist is, as in Bach's most famous Passions, Picander.
The Oratory of the Ascension BWV 11 'Lobet Gott in seinen Reichen, BWV 11' is a work that Bach composed for the feast of the Ascension. Released in 1735, the libretto is very likely to be also from Picander.
