The Escolania dels Blauets from Lluc and Escolania dels Vermells de la Seu unite for the first time in the traditional Christmas concert organized by the Obra Social Sa Nostra, which this year is celebrated in the church of Santa Eulàlia in Palma. This is a charity concert, as the proceeds will go entirely to Caritas Mallorca.
An opportunity to hear two of the oldest escolanías of Europe. Although its roots date back to the thirteenth century, los Blauets from Lluc (named for the blue color of their robes) were not organized as a choir until the sixteenth century and consisted of six children who had to sing to the Virgin on behalf of Mallorca. At present there are about forty boys and girls, who study at the Sanctuary of Lluc.
Meanwhile, the Escolania dels Vermells de la Seu began in the fourteenth century and remained, with several interruptions, until 1934 , recovering again in the early twenty-first century.
