The convent of Sant Agustí de Felanitx is the setting for this concert that is part of the Cicle de Primavera 2022. It is performed by the Jove Orquestra Illes Balears, conducted by Joan Barceló, and Daniel Fernández and Joan Vidal perform as soloists on bassoon.
The program consists of the Concerto for two bassoons in F major, by J.B. Vanhal, and Symphony no. 9 by Antonín Dvorák, known as the New World Symphony.
This symphony was written by the Czech composer in 1893, during his stay in the United States as director of the National Conservatory of Music of America, in New York.
The Cicle de Primavera 2022 is organized by the Felanitx City Council through the Department of Culture and the Felanitx Cultural Center and sponsored jointly with the Department of Culture of the Consell de Mallorca. It is held during the months of April and May in different areas of the town and schedules nine concerts of different musical styles.
