Chuchito is the third generation of Cuban pianists from one of the most distinguished musical families. Grandson of Bebo Valdés and son of Chucho Valdés, he needs no further introduction, although in Spain he is little known. He comes to Mallorca invited by the Deià International Music Festival to present, together with the Camerata Deià Jazz, his Suite Picassiana project.
Born in Havana 56 years ago, this pianist, composer and arranger has been nominated several times for the Latin Grammys. He enjoys great versatility that he manifests through his multiple stylistic influences: from Afro-Cuban jazz, to Latin jazz, soul, pop and other genres such as danzón, cha-cha-chá or Caribbean rhythms.
Camerata Deià Jazz is made up of Armando Lorente (drums), Facundo Passeri (percussion) and Pablo Albornoz (violin).
The XLV Deià International Music Festival is held from June 2 to September 29 with concerts at its various venues: Son Marroig (Deià), Sineu, Sa Bassa Rotja (Porreres) and Palau March (Palma).
