Since twenty years, the University of the Balearic Islands (UIB) holds its traditional Christmas concert involving the Coral Universitat de les Illes Balears and affiliated corals, with a total of more than four hundred singers on stage.
This year's concert is a tribute to Antoni Maria Alcover, of whom in 2012 has been celebrated the 150th anniversary of his birth, and the program combines music and literature.
In the first part will perform the children's choirs, who will remember the figure of the modernist and folklorist Mallorcan writer with a stage show by Xesca Cabot.
The second part is reserved for adult corals, that will do a review of all time Christmas with texts from Alcover that will be read by the writer Biel Mesquida. Finally they sing the Adeste Fideles, arranged by Joan M. Thomas.
Involved are the following corals: Corals Infantils de Joventuts Musicals de Palma (Coral Cincset, Coral Vuitdeu and Coral Onzetretze), Cor de Pares i Mares de la UIB, Coral Juvenil de Joventuts Musicals de Palma, Cor de Mestres Cantaires de la UIB, Cor de majors de la UIB, Poema Harmònic, Orfeó Universitat de les Illes Balears and Coral Universitat de les Illes Balears.
