The 24th edition of the Festival Mallorca Jazz Sa Pobla 2018 opens with the American Cécile McLorin Salvant, a singer who has revolutionized today's jazz. Young (born in Miami in 1989), inventive, classy ... No recent jazz vocalist has received as many honors as Cécile McLorin Salvant.
In 2010 she won the Thelonious Monk International Jazz Award (with a jury composed of figures of the genre such as Dee Dee Bridgewater, Dianne Reeves, Kurt Elling, Patti Austin and Al Jarreau) and the magazine DownBeat crowned her as the best female jazz singer.
Her album Dreams & Daggers has won the 2018 Grammy in the category of Best Jazz Vocal Album, the second in her career (the first was in 2016 with For One to Love).
In Sa Pobla, Cécile McLorin Salvant (vocals) is presented in quartet format with Sullivan Fortner (piano), Paul Sikivie (double bass) and Kyle Poole (drums).
