Catalina Roig & Rafael González

The second concert of the XI Vila de Santanyí International Music Festival takes place in the church of s'Alqueria Blanca and stars Catalina Roig (flute) and Rafael González (piano). They offer a program with works by Philippe Gaubert, Charles-Marie Widor, Jacob Gade, Astor Piazzolla, Manuel de Falla and Isaac Albéniz.

Catalina Roig (Santanyí, 1980) She began her musical studies at the Municipal School of Music with Professor Enrique Palau and she finished her higher studies at the Municipal Music Conservatory of Barcelona, where she obtained the highest marks.

She is a member of the Bóreas Wind Quintet and has collaborated with the Haydn Orchestra of Barcelona, the City of Barcelona and National Orchestra of Catalonia and the Balearic Islands Symphony Orchestra, among others. She is a flute teacher at the Professional Music and Dance Conservatory of Mallorca.

The Uruguayan pianist Rafael González (1988) studied in Montevideo with Raquel Boldorini and continued his training in Chile, Germany (Weimar University of Music) and Hungary, where he obtained the Bachelor and Master of Arts degrees at the Franz Liszt Music Academy in Budapest.

He has performed in recitals in Uruguay, Chile, Germany, Spain, Hungary and the Netherlands and as a soloist with the Karlovy Vary Philharmonic Orchestra in the Czech Republic and with the Ensemble für Neue Musik of the University of Weimar. He is a professor at the Santanyí Municipal School of Music.
