Formerly known as Cappella della Pietà de 'Turchini, the Cappella neapolitana Antonio Florio is one of the most important Baroque ensembles of the current scene. In this concert at the 55e Festival of Pollença it is accompanied by the soprano Valentina Varriale, with a program dedicated to Salve Regina.
Founded in 1987 by Antonio Florio, one of the leading specialists in Baroque music, Cappella neapolitana is formed by instrumentalists and singers specialized in the interpretation of the Neapolitan musical repertoire of the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries and in the recovery of forgotten composers.
The vocal repertoire of this period is also of particular interest to the Italian soprano Valentina Varriale, one of the strongest values ??of lyric right now. She has worked with artists such as Jordi Savall, in Orfeo i Vespro della beata Virgine of Monteverdi, and is currently working with Antonio Florio on a usual basis.
Cappella neapolitana Antonio Florio is formed by Alessandro Ciccolini (violin I), Paolo Cantamessa (violin I), Giovanni Rota (violin II), Nunzia Sorrentino (violin II), Rosario Di Meglio (violin and viola), Massimo Percivaldi (violin and viola), Alberto Guerrero (cello), Giorgio Sanvito (bass) and Patrizia Varone (organ).
