The musicologist Francesc Vicens will offer a lecture on the song of the Sibyl, a subject of which he is an expert. Participating will also be Margalida Colom, the woman who represented the figure of the Sibyl in 1937 in Valldemossa and Júlia Colom, in 2012.
The Song of the Sibyl (El cant de la sibil·la), which is held in churches of Mallorca in the Christmas Eve church service, was declared in 2010 a Cultural Heritage by UNESCO. It is one of the few living examples of medieval folklore that survives only in Mallorca and in Alghero (city of the Italian island of Sardinia where Catalan is spoken), but in recent years it has been recovered by some areas of Menorca, Valencia and Catalonia.
