The 40th edition of the Deià International Music Festival begins with this concert by the American violinist Byron Wallis and the artistic director of the festival, Alfredo Oyagüez Montero on piano. The program is composed of works by Bach, Brahms, Paart, Gershwin and John Williams.
The Deià International Music Festival has been held since 1978 in the music room of Son Marroig, one of the former properties of Archduke Luis Salvador in the Tramuntana mountains of Mallorca. It was created by the now defunct Patrick Meadows, jazz musician and poet, and his partner Stephanie Shepard. Since a few years, the artistic direction falls on the pianist Alfredo Oyagüez Montero.
It is dedicated to chamber music, although it also includes proposals for styles such as jazz or flamenco.
