A night of jazz, jazz fusion, funk, rock and American folk in this double concert of the 9th edition of the Jazz Voyeur Festival, saxophonist Bill Evans presents his new album Dragonfly (2011) accompanied by Mitch Stein (guitar), Frank Gravis (bass), Josh Dion (drums) and Ryan Cavanaugh (banjo).
Dragonfly is the sixteenth album as a solo musician who at 16 gave classical piano recitals and at 22, by a fluke of fate, was part of Miles Davis's band. With the legendary trumpet player he remained five years, recording all albums released between 1981 and 1983. He has also collaborated on recordings by other musicians such as John McLaughlin, Mick Jagger and Randy Brecker, among others.
Bill Evans has received two Grammy nominations for Soul Insider (2002) and Soulgrass (2006).
After the quintet, the singer, guitarist and songwriter from Argentina Alejandra Burgos will put a note of blues, country and rock and roll to the night.
In addition to the six scheduled concerts, the Jazz Voyeur Festival this year includes a series of film & Jazz held from 12 to 15 November at the Teatre Catalina Valls, exhibitions and routes.
Tickets: Teatre Mar i Terra, Teatre Municipal Catalina Valls, Teatre Xesc Forteza, Jazz Voyeur Club
