La creación de la Big Band Conservatori surge con la idea de desarrollar aspectos musicales fuera del ámbito de la música clásica. En un futuro, los músicos que ahora forma parte de esta banda podrán realizar estudios de jazz tras completar su formación clásica.
Con la Big Band el Conservatori Superior de les Illes Balear brinda a los alumnos la posibilidad de sumergirse en este estilo de música que va desde el swing de los años 30 y 40 pasando por el groove y el funky.
