The contest of Cante Jondo in 1922 held in Granada is one of the most important events in the history of flamenco that marked a before and after for this art. Led by Manuel de Falla, followed by Zuloaga, the competition was the impulse of a young Federico García Lorca and a long list of characters belonging to the intelligentsia of the time.
The Ballet Flamenco de Andalucía, led by Rafaela Carrasco, pays tribute to these great figures with his show En la memoria del cante: 1922 (In memory of cante: 1922), a reflection of that landmark of Flamingo almost a century later.
The program consists of Nights in the Gardens of Spain (Manuel de Falla), Presentation of the Jury, Rondeña of Ramon Montoya, Seguiriya of Manuel Torre, Cuadro de la Zambra (Homage to 'La Gazpacha), Saeta of Pastora Pavón ‘La Niña de los Peines’, ( The girl of the Combs'), Tonás by Manolo Caracol, Malagueña by Antonio Chacón, Cantiñas by Joanna Vargas 'La Macarrona' and Soleá de Diego Bermúdez ' El Tenazas'.
En la memoria del cante: 1922 presented in Mallorca in the Cala Millor Festival.
