August Tharrats is considered the pioneer of blues and boogie woogie in Catalonia. Thanks to his father's fondness for classic jazz, with 4 years he already listened to records of great figures like Ray Charles and Lionel Hampton. With time he has developed a unique style inspired by the pianists of the school of Kansas City, with Jay McShann in the lead.
Has also developed a successful career as an cartoonist, although in the last twenty years he has been dedicated to jazz. After participating in the group Big Mama, he created his own trio in 1993, formation with which he now visits the Auditorium of Palma. With August Tharrats on the piano the rest of the band is made up by Pere Loewe (bass) and Anton Jarl (drums).
