Ala · ni is the stage name of Alani Charal, a charismatic London singer-songwriter of West Indian origin who currently resides in Paris. Her professional career began as a showgirl for a varied cast of artists that includes Mary J. Blige, Blur and Andrea Bocelli.
In her first album You & I (2016) she has had the collaboration of Andrew Hale (Sade), who has helped produce songs that mix the romanticism of the ballads of the swing era with a contemporary soul touch. Ala · ni is the author, along with Alfonso de Vilallonga, of the soundtrack of Isabel Coixet's latest film, The Bookshop (2017).
