On May 27, 1866, Santa Maria del Cami inaugurated its annual Fira and five years later, in 1871, the last Sunday in April was established as a stable date for its conclusion. Since then 150 years have passed, which Sa Fira is celebrating this year, an event that started as showing traditional agricultural and livestock and has grown to become a sample of culture, tradition and local industry.
The events last more than ten days and there will be about 50, culminating on Sunday 24th with the big day, Sa Fira. This year, in addition to traditional shows and exhibitions that can be seen on the weekend of the Fira (with over two hundred outlets or exhibition of products), they have also scheduled activities to commemorate the 150th anniversary, as the Fireta del joc, in the Plaça de la Vila, which throughout the weekend will offer games and ancient attractions and period setting.
There will also be music, with performances in the streets of the Band of Santa Maria del Cami, the batucada Batukaos or the swing of Monkey Doo to not stop dancing.
